The fourth week of January brought joy to investors - Sofix and BG TR30 rose by 2.44 % and 1.28 % and the most winning proved to be companies special investment vehicles, which measure grew by nearly 7 %. With these growth rates for the first time in a long time ahead we were ahead of Western markets, where increases were with lower intensity.

Bulgaria has attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) for EUR 740.3 million in January-November 2011, the decrease over the same month last year by EUR 691.3 million, or 48 %, shows BNB data. Only in November FDI decreased by 75 % YOY to EUR 77.4 million.

The second week of the year ended with a symbolic increase in SOFIX - 0.04 %. BGTR30 rose with 1.17 % to 262.08 points at the end of the week, and best presented BGREIT with a growth of 3.92 percent. Bulgaria ranks third in EU by annual drop in retail sales in November 2011 with a fall of 5.3 %, show data of Eurostat. Before us are Portugal and Spain, where was registered an annual decline of retail sales by 9.2 % and 7 %. The largest growth in sales is measured in Lithuania (14.1 %), Latvia (7.6 %) and Estonia (3.9 %). The decline in the country is significantly above the EU average and the euro area. Eurostatistics shows that in November last year the annual decrease in retail sales in 17 countries of the eurozone was 2.5 %, and for all EU members - 1.3 %.
